Web Editor's Notes

Note on The Evil Genius: We were unable to locate open-access facsimiles of the original weekly issues of The Evil Genius, in which this novel was originally serialized. We have instead linked to the volume form, published in 1886. Collins divides this novel into three sections: “Before the Story,” “The Story,” and “After the Story.” Project Gutenberg and Librivox sometimes collapse the original chapters of these parts into one “chapter.”

Note on Prince Otto: We were unable to locate the original monthly editions of Longman’s Magazine, in which this novel was originally serialized. We have instead linked to the biannual volumes of the magazine.
